Overview

About HutanBio

HutanBio is developing the world’s first cost-parity, net-negative sustainable fuel for aviation, shipping, and heavy transport. These sectors underpin $40 trillion in global trade and represent a ~$960 billion fuel market by 2035. Yet no sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), maritime fuel, or heavy-duty transport fuel has proven to be cheap, scalable and sustainable at global scale.

Until now.

HutanBio’s HBx Bioenergy Platform, is built on a new-to-science marine microalgae, evolved for extreme environments. Unlike legacy algae systems that failed to scale, HBx delivers ~25× higher oil productivity, exceptional CO₂ capture and carbon removal, and stable operation in high heat, high salinity - eliminating dependence on arable land or freshwater.

Why HutanBio can scale where others failed.

Biological step-change: HBx strains originate from a marine extremophile with 300 photosynthetic layers, enabling sustained productivity under peak desert sunlight while concentrating oil in protected cellular structures for cleaner fuel extraction.

Cost-engineered production: Patented, vertical, enclosed photobioreactors are purpose-designed for long-life desert deployment, automation, and low OPEX at industrial scale.

Proven in practice: Multiple tonnes of algae cultivated, 18+ months of uninterrupted operation, real-time yield optimisation, and zero system crashes

Ideal composition for transport fuel: HBx Bio Oil (C16–C18 TAGs) enables up to 90% blends for marine & heavy-duty diesel, requiring only limited refining to meet aviation fuel standards

Modular by design, scaling from 1-ha units to multi-km² bio-energy sites across coastal desert regions between 40°N and 40°S. Just 5% of suitable coastal desert land could supply all global aviation and maritime fuel demand.

📩 Welcoming engagement from Series A investors, strategic partners, and industrial collaborators aligned with scaling next-generation biofuels globally.
