About Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana

The Institute was established by an Act of Parliament, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, Act 2020, (Act 1058).

It is the sole professional body mandated by law to promote the study of accountancy and regulate the accountancy profession and practice in Ghana.
Its members are the only persons recognized under the Companies Act (Act 992) 2020, for the purpose of audit of companies accounts. It is governed by a Council of eleven Chartered Accountants. The Council, headed by a President, holds office for a period of two (2) years.

Institute currently runs three distinct programmes.
(a) CA Professional Programme.
(b) Accounting Technician Scheme West Africa (ATSWA).
(c) Post-Chartered Diploma Programmes

A candidate who successfully completes the professional programme and obtain a working experience in accountancy, approved by the Council of the |Institute., qualifies to use the designatory letter ‘CA’ after his/her name.
