Imidibaniso (Stellenbosch Centre for Science Communication)

Imidibaniso is an issue-driven page by the Centre for Science Communication (CSC). This page focuses on the use of science communication as a tool to achieve social justice in South Africa, Africa, and the Global South. Through an interdisciplinary lens, the Centre seeks to bridge the gap between citizen engagements and science innovations to meet growing challenges that will determine lived experiences in the 21st century, mainly: climate change, quality of life, equity and equality.

The CSC hosts the NRF Research Chair in Science Communication (SciCom), which is funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI). Professor Mehita Iqani currently holds the Chair and is the director of the Centre at Stellenbosch University’s Department of Journalism, South Africa.
