About AME - Institute of Applied Medical Engineering
AME pursues a biomedical engineering research profile, which is characterized by consistent and comprehensive interdisciplinarity – a lively convergence of disciplines.
As a research institute of the Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University we are connected to its combined expertise of the technical, the natural sciences and the medical faculty including the University Hospital.
Our research and development projects comprise of modelling, construction, prototyping, experimental validation, preclinical testing, and translating of biomedical engineering products. With regard to Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products, we also provide cell cultivation and investigate bioreactor conditioning. Furthermore, we accompany innovative methods and products in clinical studies, as well transferring novel findings into spin-offs situated at our Cluster Biomedical Engineering at RWTH Aachen Campus. Our cooperations include a great variety of national and international industrial and academic partners.
The Institute of Applied Medical Engineering is structured into six departements:
BEE – Biophysical & Education Engineering
BioTex – Biohybrid & Medical Textiles
CVE – Cardiovascular Engineering
(www.cardiovascular-engineering.com)
RPE – Rehabilitation and Prevention Engineering
SCM – Science Management
AMB - Advanced Materials for Biomedicine
