About Institute of Philanthropy
The Hong Kong Jockey Club's century-old legacy of philanthropic giving has presented an exceptional opportunity for the Club to establish the Institute of Philanthropy (loP), a "think-fund-do" tank dedicated to promoting philanthropic thought leadership at the local, regional and global levels together with its funder partners, for the common good for societies everywhere.
Anchored in the East, the loP acknowledges Asia's growing significance in the global philanthropic ecosystem.
With an initial sum of HKD6.8 billion (USD870 million) from The Hong Kong Jockey Club and its Charities Trust, the loP would provide a convening platform to bridge regional and global philanthropic efforts, scale strategic and innovative solutions for global & regional and challenges, and professionalise the philanthropic sector.
The loP was formally inaugurated at the Philanthropy for Better Cities Forum in September 2023.
