About International Gas Union
The International Gas Union (IGU) is a global non-profit organisation founded in 1931, with its Secretariat based in London, UK.
Our mission is to advocate for natural gas, low-carbon gases, and hydrogen as vital components of a sustainable and secure global energy system. Representing over 90% of the global gas market, IGU brings together more than 150 members from across the gas value chain—spanning exploration, production, LNG, transmission, distribution, and end-use.
IGU encourages international trade in gas by supporting non-discriminatory policies, sound contracting principles, and best practices. We promote the development and deployment of innovative technologies that enhance the environmental benefits of gas, while ensuring safe and efficient production, transmission, distribution, and utilisation.
