The Arachas Data team is looking for a talented and driven Business Intelligence Developer to enhance our capabilities. These responsibilities aim to empower our business to make more informed decisions by leveraging advanced data analytics, compelling data visualization, and robust data modelling techniques. You will be key in transforming data into insights that drive our business strategies and objectives.

Working closely with other data teammates and with colleagues across Arachas, the BI developer will work with a variety of data sets to both respond, and deliver on business requests for insights and analysis, as well as working with and interpreting the data sets to proactively design and deliver the analytical output that will support Arachas in our ambitious data strategy.

Role Accountabilities And Core Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Power BI semantic models with a strong focus on star schema, snowflake schema, and dimensional modelling.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Develop complex DAX measures and calculated columns to support advanced analytics and business logic.
  • Build and optimize SQL transformations within a medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across platforms.
  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in Power BI such as deployment pipelines, dataflows, composite models, DirectQuery vs Import modes, and integration with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ability to optimize performance, manage workspace governance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to design and apply RLS policies to ensure data access is restricted based on user roles or attributes, maintaining data confidentiality and compliance across reports and dashboards.
  • Prepare high quality management information and present recommendations for implementation/business decisions within strict timelines
  • Maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure that data is interpreted and validated correctly and work with them to refine data outputs
  • Develop an understanding of the business and its operations to determine relevant insights for various business stakeholders
  • Build and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric components (Azure Data Factory, Lakehouse, OneLake, Notebooks, Pipelines).

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/information systems/ engineering or maths.
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Data / BI Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI / Synapse / Microsoft Azure / Fabric tools and architecture.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Nice to have Python (PySpark).
  • Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse Analytics).
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing.

Person Specification

  • Experienced and independent subject matter expert, capable of working on own initiative whilst delivering best practice solutions
  • Possesses a can-do attitude and can get things done, rapidly building an understanding of the Arachas organisation and technical environment.
  • Strong relationship builder and capable of credibly managing internal and external executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Azure Data Engineering, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with performance tuning in Power BI and DAX.
  • Familiarity with data mesh or data fabric concepts.
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows and AI integrations.
