Key Responsibilities
- Train and mentor new CDL drivers on safe tanker operations (chemical & petroleum)
- Conduct ride-alongs and on-the-road evaluations
- Instruct proper loading/unloading procedures, including pumps, hoses, and valves
- Reinforce hazmat handling, spill response, and PPE protocols
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, EPA, and customer-specific requirements
- Evaluate driver readiness and provide clear pass/fail recommendations
- Coach drivers on defensive driving, situational awareness, and risk mitigation
- Assist with refresher training and remediation for current drivers when needed
- Maintain accurate training documentation and evaluations
- Communicate closely with Safety and Operations teams
- Part-time, flexible schedule based on training needs
- Mix of local and regional travel for ride-alongs
- Ideal for experienced drivers looking to step into a mentorship role
- Valid Class A CDL with X Endorsement (Hazmat & Tanker)
- 5+ years of chemical or liquid tanker experience (preferred for trainer role)
- Strong safety record and clean MVR
- Prior driver training or mentorship experience strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of:
