Arrow Environmental is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator, at the Ecowaste Landfill Soil Facilities in Richmond and Abbotsford. The Equipment Operator Site Attendant will work primarily at the Richmond location but may need to transfer to the Abbotsford location to assist when needed.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will primarily be responsible for operating loader, excavator, rock truck, and screener heavy equipment to fabricate, load, and apply soil.

  • Operate heavy equipment (loader, excavator, processing equipment, etc.) to mix biosolids, wood fibre and sand
  • Assist with road prep, sanding and watering to ensure the facility is accessible and maintained all year round
  • Communicate with drivers regarding unloading locations predetermined by supervisor/manager
  • Support inventory control (inbound/outbound/on ground) and accurately document load slips
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, compliance regulations, and participate in identifying hazards
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on equipment
  • Provide internal and external customer service excellence
  • May be asked to travel to other facilities if necessary
  • Ability cross training on other functions at facility
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
  • A minimum of 1 year of equipment operating experience (Excavator, Loader, Processing Equipment)
  • Minimum 2,000 hours of excavator experience
  • Mechanically inclined with experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Exceptionally high level of hand-eye coordination
  • Experience working with computers is an asset
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment as a member of a team
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Demonstrates strong communication
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Quality oriented and strong attention to detail
  • Needs to be responsible, accountable and dependable
  • Good physical condition and able to carry at least 50 lbs
