The Staff Accountant plays a key part in general ledger activities, financial close processes, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- General Accounting and Financial transactions
- Process and review accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile bank accounts, vendor accounts, and other financial records.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audit preparation by providing necessary documentation and financial reports.
- Maintain proper internal controls to prevent discrepancies and financial risks.
- Process Improvement and Support
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in accounting processes and workflows.
- Collaborate with other departments, including procurement and finance, to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Assist in system upgrades, automation initiatives, and financial software enhancements. Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or industry-specific setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and MS Excel (pivot tables, Vlookups, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Other: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
