Responsibilities

The Business Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of dashboards that support the Department of Public Works (DPW). This position enhances transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency by consolidating and visualizing data from multiple systems. The role requires a combination of technical expertise in data integration and visualization, along with strong communication and collaboration skills to ensure dashboards meet the needs of DPW leadership, staff, and stakeholders.

  • Dashboard Development & Maintenance
    • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards for service delivery, work orders, asset management, and financial performance.
    • Ensure dashboards are intuitive, reliable, and accessible for staff and leadership.
  • Data Integration & Management
    • Connect and integrate data across multiple systems (e.g., GIS, asset management, finance).
    • Conduct data cleaning, validation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with DPW goals.
    • Produce regular reports and insights to support decision-making and track outcomes.
  • Collaboration & Training
    • Partner with DPW staff, IBTS program managers, and IT resources to align dashboard functionality with operational needs.
    • Train staff in the effective use and interpretation of dashboards.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Monitor dashboard performance, collect user feedback, and implement enhancements.
    • Research and apply new data visualization tools and practices within project scope and budget.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, GIS, Public Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2–4 years of experience in dashboard development using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or ArcGIS Insights.

  • Knowledge of database management, APIs, and data integration processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly.
  • Effective collaboration and communication abilities across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with municipal operations, public works, or infrastructure-related data.
  • Knowledge of FEMA reporting requirements, compliance frameworks, or government performance measurement.
  • Familiarity with spatial data and GIS integration
