Position Summary

As a Contamination Control Engineer II, you will play a key role in supporting contamination control excellence within Photronics’ semiconductor manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating particulate, chemical, and environmental contamination risks that impact product quality, yield, and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, and Quality teams to drive root cause analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and robust contamination prevention strategies across photomask processes.

Location

Photronics – Boise, Idaho (US)

This is an on-site position. Remote candidates are not being considered at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and sustain contamination control strategies across photomask manufacturing and cleanroom operations.
  • Identify contamination sources through inspections, data analysis, and failure analysis; drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support root cause investigations related to yield loss, defectivity, and customer-related contamination events.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, and Quality teams to improve process, tool, and environmental controls.
  • Analyze SPC data, trend contamination metrics, and recommend improvements to enhance product quality and operational performance.
  • Support qualification and ongoing monitoring of cleaning, developing, etching, and lithography processes.
  • Ensure adherence to cleanroom protocols, safety requirements, and contamination control standards.
  • Participate in audits, customer inquiries, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and ExperienceKnowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, contamination control principles, and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of cleaning, developing, etching, and lithography techniques.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), data analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or ERP systems.
  • Self-motivated, analytical thinker with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and cleanroom best practices.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in semiconductor process engineering, contamination control, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent work experience.

Travel

  • Approximately 10–15%, including domestic travel and limited international travel.
