Chief Technology Officer

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for defining and executing the company's technical strategy while leading the evolution of a complex hardware, software, materials, and manufacturing platform.

This role requires a unique combination of strategic leadership and hands-on execution. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, guide product development priorities, accelerate software maturity, and ensure the organisation can reliably transition from innovation to industrial scale.

The successful candidate will become a key member of the executive team and play an important role in product strategy, fundraising activities, customer engagement, and long-term business planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead the company's technology strategy across hardware, software, materials, systems engineering, and product development.
• Drive the transition of complex engineering systems from prototype and development through to scalable commercial deployment.
• Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Establish engineering processes, design reviews, testing standards, validation frameworks, and product development best practices.
• Improve software architecture, development processes, product usability, and release management.
• Partner closely with manufacturing, operations, commercial, and leadership teams to ensure successful customer deployments.
• Guide future product development and technology roadmap decisions.
• Support intellectual property development and protection strategies.
• Represent the technical vision of the business with customers, investors, partners, and board members.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with engineering leaders who have successfully developed and commercialised complex industrial technology platforms.

You are likely to bring:

• 10+ years' experience developing complex hardware systems, industrial equipment, robotics, automation platforms, advanced manufacturing systems, or capital equipment.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, software, electrical, controls, and systems engineering functions.
• A proven track record of bringing products from development into commercial deployment and scale.
• Experience balancing innovation with manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost optimisation.
• Strong leadership capability with the ability to inspire teams while remaining highly execution focused.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with executive teams, investors, customers, and strategic partners.

Experience in advanced manufacturing, robotics, automation, additive manufacturing, industrial machinery, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, medical devices, or related technology sectors would be particularly relevant.
