Summary

Under supervision, obtains, collects, labels, and transports various laboratory specimens to appropriate laboratory sections; performs a limited number of basic laboratory procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Formal Education Required:
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Enrolled in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Medical Laboratory Technology program.
  • Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate phlebotomy equipment, other specimen equipment, and laboratory computer equipment.
  • Level of Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount

of force frequently.
