We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our Solutions Engineering (SE) team at our Fort Worth, Texas site!
As part of the SE team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, usability, and understanding of Bill of Materials (BOMs) used in the design and manufacturing of switchboards. You’ll be the primary resource for BOM interpretation, material-related questions, data analysis, and cross-functional coordination between Materials, Assembly, Suppliers, and Order Engineering (OE). This role is about having a strong technical understanding of switchboard construction, assembly workflows, and material usage.
You will make an impact by:
- Read, interpret, and validate Electrical and Mechanical BOMs for switchboards.
- Understand where each component is used within the switchboard structure and assembly process.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies, missing components, or incorrect quantities.
- Provide technical explanations of BOM content to Assembly, Suppliers, and Order Engineering.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all material-related questions (substitutions, part usage, removals, BOM changes, etc.).
- Provide guidance on part requirements during procurement, planning, and shop-floor activities.
- Ensure alignment between SAP material data and engineering documentation.
- Serve as the communication link between suppliers, OE, and Materials.
- Address supplier questions regarding components, materials, BOMs, and design intent.
- Work with OE to resolve complex BOM or configuration issues affecting supplier builds.
- Provide clear documentation or clarification to avoid supplier delays or material errors.
- Use SAP to review material masters, part numbers, BOM structures, and production orders.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, or recurring issues in BOMs or materials usage.
- Support continuous improvement projects using SAP data, cost analysis, or material flow metrics.
- Communicate assembly-impacting changes or issues promptly to all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Assembly to troubleshoot and correct build issues related to materials or BOM structure.
- Support process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing rework, shortages, and assembly delays.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. or greater in Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment as an Industrial Engineer or equivalent.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and confidently convey information to different audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English Language.
- Experience in electrical distribution equipment manufacturing.
- Familiarity with engineering change management and supplier collaboration.
- Experience with lifecycle management systems, BOM changes, and/or master data management.
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
