
As part of the innovative Database Infrastructure Engineering team, you will work on building and supporting the systems that will fix the World’s energy problems. You will make data systems run fast and run reliably so that our vehicles run as efficiently as possible. In this role, you will build the next generation data platform to deliver database related services on demand while reducing our infrastructure footprint. You will support the current fleet through observability, monitoring, automating, as well as building resilient, reliable, and scalable databases and tools. This position is available in the Bay Area, CA; Austin, TX.
What You'll Do
Respond to issues within the Service Level Objective during your assigned on-call rotationTroubleshoot broken systems and services issues and also build new systemsDocument the services we run and how to manage themMonitor, measure and improve the performance and state-awareness of our systemsLocate and deprecate unused services Re-deploy, reschedule services that under-utilize their planned resources every quarter Complete, Update or Polish 4 Runbook/SOPs/Design Documents
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or proof of exceptional skills in related field10+ Years experience in database/Streaming technologiesExpertise in supporting at least one of the technologies like PostgreSQL and MySQLExpertise in caching technologies like RedisExpertise in writing software in python/ Shell/ Ansible (or) any other, to improve the reliability, scalability and performance of Tesla's infrastructureExpert in database and SQL tuning and expert troubleshooterStrong Shell, Python and SQL scripting to automate DB related jobsFamiliarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, consul, SplunkProven ability to work independently or as an integral member of a team and has excellent communication and documentation skillsFamiliarity with low level debugging tools such as strace, tcpdump, gdb, lsof and netstat

Expected Compensation
$200,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
