
Overall Summary:
Medical Assistants will provide patient care under the orders and guidance of clinicians in accordance with clinic protocols and policies. Under Clinic Operations Management supervision, Medical Assistant I will perform various assignments within their scope of practice to support comprehensive quality medical care. Medical Assistants may provide support across various departments including, but not limited to, Primary Care, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Optometry, and Podiatry.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms daily as per supply/instrument checklist
- Review electronic patient chart information to prepare for visits
- Participate in daily huddles with providers to plan for patient visits
- Prepare patients for exams, including point-of-care tests or procedures
- Document completed patient screening questionnaires in the EHR
- Prepare instruments, equipment, and trays for patient visits
- Pend in-house lab orders and vaccines
- Administer vaccines
- Carry out patient rooming responsibilities
- Complete GIC documentation
- Perform downtime procedures as needed
- Collect specimens properly and follow procedures
- Monitor patient flow and wait times; notify providers when delays occur
- Provide patient education materials and instructions for referrals, imaging, and tests
- Make robust confirmation calls
- Schedule appointments
- Perform medication reconciliations
- Comply with all regulatory and clinic procedures, including HIPAA, infection control, and waste disposal protocols
- Stock clinic supplies, purge expired items, and perform other clinic duties as assigned
- Work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and overtime as necessary; may be assigned to work at different clinic locations
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Attend huddles, meetings, workshops, and trainings as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Required Education, Experience, Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification of completion in Medical Assistant program
- CPR Certification
Preferred Education, Experience, Training:
- 3–6 months of healthcare work experience
