R&D Gummy Formulator

Kalon Executive Search is partnering exclusively with a leading contract manufacturer of nutritional supplements to identify a proven R&D Gummy Formulator with strong leadership experience to oversee gummy production operations.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years formulating pectin/gelatin gummies (fruit juice/puree bases preferred), excels in process optimization using Six Sigma/lean tools, and thrives leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced cGMP environment.

*** This role is in person in Irvine CA

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead gummy formulation/reformulation from concept to scale-up, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality standards
• Provide technical expertise for process improvements, cost savings, troubleshooting, and global formula adaptations
• Collaborate with Quality, Procurement, PD, and Manufacturing to resolve development/production challenges
• Drive continuous improvement via SPC, Six Sigma, rheology analysis, and root cause investigations
• Develop/modify formulas; approve PLI, nutrition facts, master formulas, and manufacturing instructions
• Monitor KPIs, optimize equipment/resources, and implement new technologies with suppliers/academia
• Troubleshoot customer complaints and process losses; communicate project status to leadership

Qualifications:

• BS Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology or related field
• 7+ years gummy supplement formulation (pectin/gelatin, variable dosages, juice/puree bases)
• Expertise in formulation costing/pricing analysis, potency calculations, and statistical process control
• Fluent English (Spanish preferred); strong MS Office skills
• Proven leader who multitasks effectively with minimal supervision

Compensation: $100,000-130,000 base plus benefits
