Job Summary: Responsible for the procurement of all raw materials, equipment and purchased services at Alphapointe. Develops and maintains necessary relationships with suppliers. Works closely with production, sales and new product development personnel in order to support production requirements with optimal inventory quantities and cost.

Essential Functions

  • Executes the procurement of raw materials, equipment and purchased services.
  • Develops request for quotes; evaluates competitive bid proposals and provides recommendations to benefiting departments.
  • Researches product market information relating to raw material, equipment and supply purchases.
  • Maintains inventory levels in order to support production requirements and space constraints by utilizing MRP. Negotiates agreements with suppliers to attain optimal cost and quantity.
  • Expedites purchase orders by identifying and resolving vendor or shipment problems. Works with Quality Department and Supplier on quality issues until resolution is achieved.
  • Ensures that purchasing business practices are compatible with state and federal laws.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies and objectives, both short-term and long-term. Develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • Monitors, reports and works toward minimizing possible obsolete inventory.
  • Provides input into annual operating budgets for the department. Prepares budget estimates and monitors departmental expenditures.
  • Collaborate with new product development, sales and production personnel on new product launches.
  • Provide visibility of open Purchase Orders to Production through accurate reporting.
  • Perform Supplier Performance Reviews and address supplier performance issues as they arise.
  • Review low margin items to improve cost of raw materials.
  • Mitigate price increases through negotiations or selection of alternative suppliers or substitute items.

Knowledge And Skill Requirements

  • BS degree in business or other related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of standard products and sources of supply for raw material procurement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors, contractors, etc. to obtain the most cost effective prices and contract terms for goods and services purchased by Alphapointe.
  • Knowledge of effective methods of organizing and implementing a procurement and supply inventory program.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with Material Resource Planning (MRP) and master scheduling programs.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long-range goals.
  • Knowledge of budget, cost estimation and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.

Salary

  • $78,000-$90,000/year
