Seasonal Lifeguard

The Seasonal Lifeguard performs lifeguarding duties to protect the safety and well-being of patrons through vigilant supervision, rule enforcement, and effective emergency response.

The employee will have the responsibility of

  • Maintaining and enforcing pool safety
  • Explaining and enforcing basic pool rules
  • Providing information regarding facility use and hours of operation
  • Assisting with conflict resolution and customer relations
  • Assisting in general maintenance and clean-up of activities/facilities
  • Maintaining property of the City of Killeen pool facility
  • Submitting reports to supervisor on accidents, damage to facilities and equipment, problems among staff, and complaints from facility users
  • Monitoring swimmers and Keeps swimmers clear of guard stand

The work environment will require the employee to

  • Be able to handle paperwork, set up facility, and to perform CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Lift and carry equipment for pools up to 75 pounds
  • Be able to consistently monitor swimmers
  • Work outdoors for prolonged periods of time
  • Be present at all times when the pool is open

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience as a lifeguard, previous American Red Cross lifeguard and/or water park certifications preferred

Special Requirements

  • Must have availability for shifts as early as 6:00 a.m. and as late as 11:00 p.m.
  • Must be able to work weekends
