About The Opportunity - Accounting Manager
A growing organization in the manufacturing and distribution space is seeking a skilled Accounting Manager to oversee key financial operations, including inventory accounting, WIP management, and invoice processing. This role offers the opportunity to lead critical accounting functions while partnering with senior finance leadership to drive accuracy and efficiency. Ideal for a hands-on leader, this position blends technical accounting expertise with team collaboration and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities - Accounting Manager
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts, including raw materials, finished goods, and WIP (material, labor, and overhead)
- Oversee invoice processing, including review and approval of finished goods and vendor invoices
- Monitor and reconcile accrued accounts and ensure accuracy in inventory and costing data
- Conduct month-end close activities, including job costing analysis and inventory valuation
- Review financial statements, compare actuals to budget, and investigate variances
- Maintain and update inventory systems, including item master files and reporting corrections
- Review purchase orders against receiving documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Analyze job costing, production data, and expense allocations to ensure proper financial treatment
- Collaborate with finance leadership on reporting, projects, and process improvements
- Serve as a backup resource for accounting team members and support cross-functional initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- At least 3 years of leadership or management experience
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and WIP processes
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments (preferred)
- Proven ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement solutions
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Proficiency with accounting systems and ERP platforms
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
