A public sector organization dedicated to providing retirement and related benefits to eligible educators in New York City is seeking a Loans & TDA Accounting Clerk to support their Loans & Tax-Deferred Annuity team. This role focuses on processing member withdrawals and loan disbursement requests with accuracy and compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review, input, and validate member disbursement requests in accordance with established procedures.
- Approve and audit team transactions, including reviewing rejection reasons, making system updates, and issuing appropriate member correspondence.
- Analyze payroll pre- and post-processing reports to ensure accurate reconciliation of member transactions.
- Coordinate with General Accounting to ensure timely payment processing.
- Respond to inquiries from Member Services and internal departments, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Prior experience in pensions, financial services, or accounting operations preferred.
- Proficiency in or ability to quickly learn accounting systems.
