Claims Director - General Liability
Hybrid - 4 days from NYC office 1 day remote
$130,000 - $145,000 base + 25% bonus
A leading insurance carrier is hiring a Claims Director for their General Liability team. This is a senior-level technical role handling complex Commercial General Liability claims across a diverse portfolio. You will manage mid to high-exposure claims from first notice through resolution, with a strong focus on coverage analysis, litigation strategy, and stakeholder management. You will also conduct claims audits for their clients.
- Handle complex CGL claims including premises liability, slip & fall, auto liability, product liability and other wide ranging bodily injury cases
- Lead coverage investigations and draft detailed coverage position letters independently
- Handle reinsurance matters including reporting and reinsurance analysis
- Manage litigated files, coordinating defense counsel and driving strategy through to resolution
- Evaluate liability, damages, and settlement exposure on higher-severity claims
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, insureds, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines and industry best practices
- 5+ years of Commercial General Liability claims experience (premise/product/auto/slip & falls etc.)
- Strong exposure to coverage interpretation and other coverage matters
- Experience within reinsurance highly beneficial
- Background with a reputable carrier or law firm
- Bachelor's degree required; industry designations (AIC, CPCU, etc.) are a plus
- Competitive base salary ($130,000 - $145,000) + 25% annual bonus
