At Physicians Mutual, we’re looking for talented actuarial professionals to join our Product Management team. Whether you’re an Actuarial Assistant, Actuarial Associate, or Senior Actuarial Associate, this is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports product pricing, development, and long-term business growth.
In this role, you’ll use your analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure our Medicare Supplement and other Health products are thoughtfully designed, competitively priced, and fully compliant with regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across actuarial, finance, marketing, and product development, helping to deliver insights that drive business decisions and strengthen our portfolio.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct experience studies and analyze data related to persistency, mortality, morbidity, and expenses.
- Support product pricing and development by evaluating assumptions, profitability, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining rate filings, actuarial memorandums, and related documentation.
- Contribute to re-rating analyses and renewal rate setting, presenting findings to management.
- Develop and maintain models using tools such as Excel or ALFA software.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver accurate, timely information and actionable insights.
- Provide mentorship or technical guidance to junior analysts (Senior Associate level).
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics.
- Actuarial Associate: Attainment of ASA designation (or active exam progress toward ASA).
- Senior Actuarial Associate: At least two years with an ASA designation.
- Familiarity with individual Health products, including Medicare Supplement, is a plus.
- Strong analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in Excel and exposure to modeling or statistical tools.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Commitment to professional growth through exam progression and continuing education.
- Team-oriented mindset with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
