Role Description This full-time, on-site Maintenance Technician role is based in San Diego, CA. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing routine and emergency maintenance requests, including troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance issues in apartment homes and common areas. Daily tasks include performing preventative maintenance, inspecting building systems, maintaining grounds and curb appeal, and preparing vacant units for new residents. The role also involves coordinating with the maintenance supervisor and property management team, working with vendors as needed, and ensuring that all work complies with safety standards and company policies. The Maintenance Technician provides responsive, courteous service to residents and team members while helping maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning community.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and appliance repair.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance, unit turns, and inspection of building systems such as HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues efficiently, prioritize work orders, and follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Capacity to work on-site, respond to after-hours emergencies as needed, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders, and using maintenance tools.
  • Previous maintenance experience in residential, multifamily, or related property environments is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training, trade certifications, or HVAC/EPA certifications are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, in accordance with role and property requirements.
