Volunteer Major Gifts Officer ~ Ineffable Films

Every filmmaker we support started with a story they had to tell and no clear path to tell it. You can change that. We are looking for a Major Gifts Officer to help us build the relationships that fund the next generation of underrepresented storytellers.

About Ineffable Films Ineffable Films is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering emerging and underrepresented filmmakers through mentorship, festival support, and community programs. From our Festival Wings program helping first-time filmmakers submit to festivals, to our Global Lens Film Series exploring cinema traditions from around the world, everything we do is built by a passionate team of 40+ volunteers who believe in one thing: Stories that Travel.

What You Will Do

• Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors capable of giving $1,000+
• Research prospective major gift donors and build a qualified prospect pipeline
• Partner with leadership to craft personalized outreach and donor engagement strategies
• Help develop compelling case statements and pitch materials tied to specific programs like Festival Wings and Write Yourself In
• Track donor communications and moves management in our CRM
• Support planning for donor cultivation events, screenings, and one-on-one meetings

What You Bring

• Experience in fundraising, major gifts, development, or donor relations (nonprofit or transferable from sales/business development)
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, especially in writing
• Comfort with CRM tools and basic donor data tracking
• Ability to work independently and manage your own outreach cadence
• Nice to have: familiarity with the film, arts, or education nonprofit space
• A genuine interest in amplifying underrepresented voices through film

• Type: Volunteer (Remote)
• Commitment: 4-6 hours per week, with flexibility around your schedule
• Duration: 3-6 months (ongoing opportunity for the right fit)
• Location: Remote (we operate across San Diego, Boston, and New York)
• Reports to: Ineffable Films leadership
