Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Fire Alarm Service Technician & EST Programmer with deep expertise in Edwards (EST) systems. This role is ideal for a technical professional who can effectively combine advanced programming capabilities with strong client-facing communication skills.
You will act as a lead technician, supporting complex fire alarm systems across high-profile sites throughout the Greater Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fire alarm systems, with a primary focus on EST 3 platforms
- Perform advanced programming and system configuration for Edwards systems
- Support and service additional systems including EST 4, FireLite, and Silent Knight
- Communicate effectively with clients, property managers, and internal teams
- Provide detailed service reports, updates, and documentation via email
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in fire alarm service and programming
- Advanced proficiency in EST 3 programming (required)
- Experience with EST 4 programming (strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of NFPA 72 and California Fire Code
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders/lifts
- Current union membership or willingness/eligibility to join
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
- Experience with:
- EST 3 / EST 4 systems
- FireLite & Silent Knight panels
- Proficiency in digital communication tools (email, reporting systems)
- Professional demeanor and polished appearance on job sites
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- High level of reliability and accountability, especially during on-call rotations
