Job Description:

Givens is Driven to Deliver - both for our customers and our employees. Since 1957 Givens has provided customers a single source solution for warehouse, distribution, transportation, packing and crating and air freight services. We have been growing significantly over the last few years and continue to grow at a rapid pace.

The General Manager is responsible for leading all transportation and warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery. This role oversees daily operational performance, financial results, customer satisfaction, and team leadership while driving continuous improvement and growth.

The GM will manage P&L performance, optimize workflows across dispatch, drivers, warehouse teams, and material handling operations, and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal partners. This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

  • Oversee and personally manage warehousing and distribution operations, ensuring shipments and receipts are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and on time.
  • Optimize warehouse staff performance by coaching, counseling, disciplining, and evaluating employees to maintain high productivity.
  • Troubleshoot order and inventory discrepancies as needed, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and process shipments and receipts through Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and analyze data for operational improvements.
  • Safeguard operations by ensuring compliance with company procedures and maintaining a safety-first mentality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, addressing any maintenance issues promptly.

Heavy Haul & Transportation Management:

  • Oversee the transportation, storage, and handling of heavy haul, oversized, and out-of-gauge cargo.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations for oversized and overweight freight.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize supply chain and logistics operations.

Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and motivate employees, fostering a positive and results-driven work culture.
  • Recruit, train, and develop warehouse staff to meet labor demands and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Utilize system data to examine daily worker productivity and implement improvements where needed.
  • Maintain frequent communication with colleagues, departments, and customers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Document outstanding issues at the end of each day and prepare for the following day’s workload.

Business Development & Customer Relations:

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, ensuring exceptional service and long-term partnerships.
  • Identify new business opportunities and drive growth through strategic business development initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports to management, identifying operational challenges and recommending solutions.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced warehouse or terminal management role.
  • Demonstrated track record of progressive leadership and promotions in previous roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, WMS, and RF technology is preferred.
  • Forklift Certification is a plus.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, and dedicated to meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations.
  • Passion for the Givens Mission and commitment to our core values: Integrity, Family, Drive.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of leadership experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, or related operations.
  • Strong understanding of P&L management and financial performance drivers.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience improving operational efficiency and leading change.
  • Proficiency with logistics systems (WMS/TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to lead a high-impact business unit within a rapidly growing organization.
  • Strong company culture rooted in service, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Chance to work with a leadership team that values innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Clear opportunities for career growth as Givens continues expanding nationally.
