Patent Senior Attorney (#992) - Seattle

Dorsey & Whitney LLP is seeking a senior attorney with at least five years of experience to join the Patent Group in Denver, Seattle, or Phoenix. Qualified candidates will have a technical background in software, electrical technologies, including circuit and logic designs, semiconductor structures and fabrication processes, and artificial intelligence. You will join an exceptional team of attorneys, agents, paralegals, and business professionals servicing a wide array of clients – from large multinational corporations to entrepreneurs and innovative startup companies. You will have responsibility for an active docket of patent prosecution matters – from drafting applications through all phases of domestic and foreign patent prosecution. You will have the opportunity to counsel clients on patent strategy, and conducting searches and preparing patentability, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions, as well as participate in post-grant activities at the USPTO, such as inter partes review and reexamination proceedings. In our general practice firm, there are also opportunities to support litigation and transactional practices. Depending on your experience level you will also have client management responsibilities.

The Following Qualifications Are Required

• At least five years of patent attorney experience including patent application drafting and prosecution
• USPTO admission
• Washington, Colorado, or Arizona bar admission or the ability to become licensed in Washington, Colorado, or Arizona
• B.S. and/or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
• Strong academic performance and writing ability
  
  

For Seattle applicants only: The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000, with an opportunity to earn additional contingent compensation. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area.
