At Alpha School, you will deploy an AI-powered reading program that redefines early literacy education. Facilitate short, high-impact instructional workshops rather than conventional hour-long sessions. Assess K-2 learner needs, develop original evidence-based lessons from the ground up, and contribute to building adaptive systems that extend your impact to hundreds of students. This position requires reading specialists who excel without prescriptive curricula and are eager to lead scalable literacy transformation.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops for 4-7 year olds that build core competencies in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences that resonate with children and foster a lasting passion for reading
  • Evaluating student performance data to iteratively improve your methods and identify actionable patterns
  • Partnering with the technology team to assess and improve AI-driven literacy solutions

  • Following pre-scripted curricula or commercially published scope-and-sequence frameworks

Educational Technology Specialist Key Responsibilities

Cultivate a passion for reading in early learners

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree or advanced certification in reading instruction (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience facilitating small-group reading interventions with early elementary learners
  • Demonstrated ability to assess reading proficiency, organize student groups, and create differentiated instruction without relying on pre-written materials
  • Comfortable using AI/adaptive learning platforms and adjusting instruction based on student interaction data
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Able to work on-site at one of our campuses: Lake Forest (Orange County), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; Chantilly (Washington), VA

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
