Job Summary

The Family Wealth Strategist serves as the lead advisor for Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) families with $25MM+ in investible assets. This senior-level role is responsible for prospecting new clients, deepening existing relationships, and managing the full spectrum of client needs including investment management, wealth planning, trust services, and banking solutions. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor with deep expertise in the UHNW space, capable of orchestrating complex financial strategies and delivering a white-glove client experience across generations.

Essential Functions

Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary advisor for UHNW families, developing deep trust and understanding of their financial and personal goals.
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive, multi-generational wealth strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists (Family Office Directors, Investment Advisors, Fiduciary Advisors) to deliver holistic solutions.
  • Maintain a command of the firm’s Family Wealth value proposition and family office capabilities.


Sales & Business Development

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external UHNW referrals.
  • Proactively source new relationships through Centers of Influence (COIs), professional networks, and strategic events.
  • Drive revenue growth through new business acquisition and expansion of existing relationships.
  • Lead the onboarding process for new families, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience.


Client Service & Retention

  • Own the client experience, ensuring consistent delivery of high-touch service.
  • Develop and document client strategies tailored to each family’s unique needs.
  • Partner with the Family Office Director to ensure service excellence and continuity.
  • Engage and retain next-generation family members, fostering long-term loyalty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.


Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of advisory experience with UHNW individuals, families, or family offices.
  • Proven track record of revenue generation and relationship deepening in the UHNW segment.
  • Graduate degree in business, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Deep knowledge of tax, investment, estate planning, and philanthropic strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills across diverse client profiles.
  • Recognized as a Trusted Advisor with a reputation for discretion, integrity, and strategic insight.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and financial planning software.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional credentials such as JD, CPA, CFA, CFP or Master's Degree.
  • Demonstrated success in new business development within the UHNW market.
  • Experience as industry speaker on wealth management topics.
  • Subject-matter expertise shared with internal teams or external industry groups.

Physical Demands

Driving Requirements

Compensation And Benefits

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $165,000.00 - $345,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
