As the dedicated and reliable Maintenance Assistant at one of our Alaskan facilities, this role will have a strong work ethic, skilled in performing various maintenance tasks within a fast-paced seafood processing plant. Proficient in cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment, as well as assisting with repairs and general facility upkeep. You will often work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to lift heavy loads, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks. Essential Functions/Qualifications

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

Clean and prepare job site, loading and delivering materials, and using a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.

Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.

Help carpenters, welders and other specialized contractors as needed.

Transport materials and equipment within the facility.

Assist with routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating equipment, replacing worn parts, and identifying repair needs.

The employee can do frequent walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Can lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous Experience In a Manufacturing Or Industrial Setting Preferred.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, cold environment.

Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.

Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of hand tools.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Work Environment and Schedule

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska.

Physical Demands

This role is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or ear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 or even 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
