Key Responsibilities

• Perform antepartum triage assessments for patients greater than 20 weeks using obstetric triage acuity tools, including evaluation for labor, preterm labor, preeclampsia, rupture of membranes, decreased fetal movement, vaginal bleeding, and acute or critical conditions; stabilize patients for delivery or transfer to a higher level of care as needed
• Provide intrapartum labor assessment, evaluation, and care including fetal monitoring, preparation of the expectant mother for safe delivery, and administration of obstetric medications including but not limited to Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin
• Perform immediate stabilization of the newborn, administer newborn medications, and prepare for scheduled or emergency cesarean deliveries
• Provide postpartum assessment and care for both vaginal and cesarean delivery patients
• Deliver comprehensive newborn care including hearing screens, laboratory draw assistance, IV starts and maintenance, medication administration, circumcision assistance, care of opiate withdrawal newborns, phototherapy, hypoglycemia management, and stabilization of critically ill newborns for transport

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Minimum of two (2) years of current Labor and Delivery / Family Birthing Center nursing experience
• Active New Mexico RN license or Compact State Nursing License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety Institute, or American Red Cross
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
• Must successfully pass BCA testing during the first week of assignment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with EPIC electronic health records; on-site training available.

$2548 includes taxable hourly rate plus meals and lodging stipend.
