Per-Diem Paramedic

Company Description Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps, founded in 1959 by the Washingtonville Lions Club, has a long-standing tradition of community-based emergency medical service. Originally formed by a small group of committed volunteers, the organization quickly grew to provide consistent ambulance coverage for the Town of Blooming Grove. Early community fundraising allowed the Corps to purchase its first ambulance and essential equipment. Today, the Corps continues to serve residents with a strong focus on professional, compassionate, and reliable pre-hospital care.

Role Description The Paramedic Role is Per-Diem, on-site role based in Washingtonville, NY, providing advanced life support care in pre-hospital settings. Day-to-day responsibilities include responding to 911 calls, assessing patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, performing advanced airway management, and safely transporting patients to appropriate medical facilities. The paramedic will operate and maintain medical equipment, document all care accurately and timely, and communicate effectively with dispatch, partner agencies, and receiving hospitals.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Paramedic certification and current CPR, ACLS, and PALS/PEPP certifications.
• Demonstrated proficiency in patient assessment, advanced airway management, IV/IO access, medication administration, and cardiac monitoring.
• Experience operating in emergency response environments, including safe ambulance operation, scene safety, and collaboration with law enforcement and fire services.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with patients, families, and team members in high-stress situations.
• Ability to work flexible per-diem shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to lift, move, and carry patients and equipment, and to work in varied weather and environmental conditions.
• Prior 911 or high-volume EMS experience preferred; familiarity with local protocols and systems is a plus.
