Position Summary
Collaborative VP, Group Actuarial to lead key Arch Group actuarial processes, analysis, and reporting initiatives. This role will act as a technical and strategic partner across actuarial reserving, internal and external ACGL reporting, and data initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience in reserve analysis, and a firm grasp of tools such as Excel, Power BI and SQL, while also providing mentorship to junior team members.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Lead 1st-level reserve consolidation review, ensuring accuracy and proactively identifying data issues; collaborate with junior team members to implement necessary corrections.
- Review information reported externally (e.g. 10-Q/K, etc.) for accuracy and completeness.
- Technical Provisions lead, ensuring accurate calculations and process improvement.
- Contribute to actuarial opinion development and Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) regulatory filing support.
- Support development of Group Actuarial Reporting Database by acting as subject matter expert in financial reporting and offering solutions to roadblocks.
- Support external actuarial annual reviews, acting as a liaison and data expert.
- Support the creation of Audit Committee presentations and quarterly exhibits for earnings call, including ad hoc analysis in quarter.
- Migrate Excel-based financial reporting to Power BI with IT support.
- Act as business subject matter expert for data cataloguing and stewardship, sharing responsibility with other team members.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability with reserving, financial reporting, or data-driven actuarial functions and knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance and/or reinsurance (“P&C”) and/or Mortgage Insurance.
- FCAS preferred, will consider career ACAS with strong prior experience;
- 12+ years of experience in (re)insurance actuarial functions;
- Proven experience in actuarial analysis and technical data oversight;
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality and process improvement;
- Comfortable navigating between strategic thinking and hands-on execution;
- Proficiency in advanced Excel, PowerBI, and SQL;
- Understanding of US GAAP financial reporting and/or BMA regulatory reporting;
- Effective communicator on cross-function teams.
- Experience in data management, risk management, or reserving functions;
- Experience with Python;
- Familiarity with Collibra or other data intelligence platform
- Location is White Plains, NY office hybrid in-office 2 days/week.
$212,000 - $260,000/year
- Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
