We’re hiring: Software Engineers (Level 2)


Camberwell | Hybrid | 6-month Fixed Term | 2 Positions | International Not-for-profit


The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is seeking two Software Engineers (Level 2) to join our Software Development team.


In this role, you will contribute to a specific web application development project that supports ACER’s mission to improve learning worldwide. You’ll work closely with developers, UX and internal clients to deliver a high-quality, reliable software solution.


What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to a software development project under a Lead Software Engineer
  • Contribute to technical documentation, test plans and design specifications
  • Participate in data integration and software implementation activities
  • Investigate, test and resolve software issues
  • Collaborate with internal teams and support internal client handover processes


What You Bring

  • Experience in object-oriented design and development
  • Commercial experience in PHP and JavaScript
  • Strong SQL and MongoDB database design capabilities
  • Experience with UML and producing design documentation
  • Understanding of development methodologies and software lifecycles
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organisation, time management and communication skills
  • A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
