Overview
The Mega Project Structural Design Review Team Member (DRT) is responsible for performing
detailed design reviews for all types of structures included mega projects and small scale projects,
maintaining communication with clients to clarify information, requesting missing documents,
participating in supporting inspectors in site, attending meetings, and engaging in technical
discussions.
Tasks may vary based on the progress of work and specific project requirements. This role
includes specialized expertise in high-rise building design, post-tension and precast structures, steel
structures, pile and shoring design, conduct structural assessments to identify the causes of
building cracks and prepare comprehensive reports and structural assessments for building
integrity.
Duties
A) Design Review:
• Conduct detailed reviews of project specifications, structural calculations, architectural
drawings, and geotechnical reports.
• Evaluate compliance with relevant codes, standards (including SBC Codes), and client
requirements.
• Prepare and issue Design Review Reports (DRR) based on findings.
• Utilize PRIMA-APAVE templates for reviews when structural calculation notes are
unavailable.
• Perform specialized reviews for high-rise buildings, post-tension and precast structures,
steel structures, pile and shoring designs.
• Conduct structural assessments to identify the causes of building cracks and prepare
comprehensive reports.
• Communication with Clients:
Request and follow up on missing documents, including but not limited to structural
drawings, architectural plans, soil reports, and proposal forms.
Ensure clear and professional communication via email and WhatsApp.
B) Initial Risk Assessment:
*Review geotechnical interpretative reports to verify:
- Site investigations and test adequacy.
-Soil layer characterization.
-Compliance of foundation solutions with design recommendations.
*Identify and document any reservations or technical comments in the Initial Risk Assessment
Report (RDO).
*Tracker and Documentation Management:
- Update project trackers daily with the status (e.g., on hold, ongoing, submitted).
- Inform relevant stakeholders about the availability of completed RDOs for portal upload.
*Inspection and Meetings:
-Participate in client meetings and site inspections as required.
-Engage in technical discussions to resolve project issues and provide expert guidance.
*Technical Discussions:
-Address design modifications and compliance issues with clients.
-Provide recommendations to ensure project adherence to structural and safety standards.
Workflow Processes:
A)RD0 Check the tracker/Google Drive daily for new projects.
-Initiate the RDO process by verifying the receipt of all required documents.
-Submit the RDO report within 4 hours of receiving all necessary documents.
B) Design Review :
If structural calculations are provided:
-Perform a full design review based on the provided calculations.
-Communicate required modifications to clients via email and WhatsApp.
-Issue and upload the DRR upon completion.
If structural calculations are not provided:
-Request calculations from the client and proceed with PRIMA APAVE templates.
-Conduct design checks for structural elements using a representative sample (e.g., 30% of
foundations, beams, columns, etc.).
Authorization
Client Communication: Authorized to communicate with clients regarding project requirements,
modifications, and compliance issues.
Report Issuance: Authorized to prepare, review, and issue Design Review Reports (DRR) and Initial
Risk Assessment Reports (RDO).
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a governmental university.
Experience: Minimum 10 years in structural design review according to SBC Code.
Skills:
• Preparation of Design Review Reports (DRR).
• Identification and assessment of initial risks (RDO).
• Understanding of gravity and lateral load considerations.
• Review of foundations and structural members.
• Effective communication with clients.
