Role Overview:

The Internal Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring the company’s day-to-day financial

records, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping, supporting internal controls, and maintaining compliance with

financial policies and procedures. The role plays a key part in tracking expenses, reconciling accounts,

preparing reports, and supporting the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Financial Records & Bookkeeping:

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are properly documented.
  • Organize and archive invoices, receipts, payment records, and other supporting documents.
  • Review financial data for accuracy and completeness.


2. Accounts Management:

  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Track incoming and outgoing payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and internal financial records regularly.
  • Monitor employee reimbursements, advances, and expense claims.


3. Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare periodic financial reports, summaries, and internal statements.
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Support budget tracking and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial data and insights to support management decision-making.


4. Internal Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and accounting procedures.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
  • Help identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, or financial risks.
  • Assist with audits by preparing required records and documentation.


5. Coordination & Support:

  • Coordinate with other departments regarding payments, procurement, and expense documentation.
  • Support payroll-related financial documentation when needed.
  • Work closely with external accountants, auditors, or tax advisors if applicable.
  • Assist in improving accounting workflows and financial documentation systems.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with reconciliations, reporting, and documentation processes.
  • Experience in startups, SMEs, or fast-paced environments.
  • Knowledge of local tax, VAT, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP or cloud accounting systems.
  • Professional certifications or progress toward them are a plus.
