THE OPPORTUNITY
Asian Community AIDS Services (ACAS) is a charitable, non-profit, community-based organization in Toronto, Canada. We provide safer sex education to East and Southeast Asian communities and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS and members of LGBTQ2SIA+ communities. Our work is grounded in GIPA/MEPA, anti-oppression, anti-racism, anti-discrimination, harm reduction, equity, inclusion, and social justice.
ACAS is entering a new phase of growth by expanding programs, strengthening partnerships, and diversifying fundraising to ensure long-term sustainability. We are seeking a compassionate, strategic, and collaborative leader to guide the organization in partnership with staff and the Board of Directors.
Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director (ED) will build on ACAS’s 30+ year legacy and position the organization for sustainable growth. The ED is accountable for overall leadership and management, ensuring decisions align with ACAS’s mission, policies, and strategic priorities.
The ED advances ACAS’s strategic goals through effective operations and by identifying opportunities that enhance the wellness of people living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs), LGBTQ2SIA+ communities, and other service users. The ED ensures fiscal health, drives sustainable growth, prepares and manages the annual budget, and identifies and mitigates organizational risks.
The ED leads a dedicated team of approximately 10 staff and strengthens partnerships with community members, service providers, funders, donors, and stakeholders. The ED serves as a visible advocate for ACAS’s mission and values in all internal and external engagements.
ABOUT ACAS
Founded in 1994, ACAS works at the intersections of health, culture, and identity. We recognize that HIV, stigma, and discrimination are connected to broader systemic and socio-political issues affecting East and Southeast Asian communities in Canada. We are a culturally responsive organization that fosters solidarity and responds to emerging challenges with compassion and innovation.
ACAS delivers programs across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario, including:
- Services for people living with HIV, such as system navigation, translation, holistic health supports, peer and mental health support, emergency assistance, social programming, and health education
- HIV prevention, anti-stigma education, testing education and referrals, and linkage to care for LGBTQ2SIA+ community members, migrant farm workers, and international students
- Harm reduction outreach and education for people who use drugs
- Community events celebrating East and Southeast Asian LGBTQ2SIA+ communities
As a workplace, ACAS reflects the communities we serve. We are committed to building an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, harm reduction–oriented organization that advances health equity, intersectionality, and culturally responsive practice while supporting staff learning and growth.
