Role Overview
The Senior Database Architect will be responsible for architecting, managing, optimizing, and securing enterprise-grade database ecosystems across on-premise and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS). Role Overview
The Senior Database Architect will be responsible for architecting, managing, optimizing, and securing enterprise-grade database ecosystems across on-premise and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS). The role involves planning scalable solutions, handling large datasets, ensuring high availability, driving automation, and leading database modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and manage SQL Server database environments across on-premise and cloud platforms
- Oversee installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of large databases (up to 20+ TB)
- Design high-availability architectures including Always On, Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication
- Implement robust Disaster Recovery frameworks ensuring minimal downtime
- Lead performance optimization initiatives including query tuning, indexing, and workload analysis
- Drive database automation using PowerShell, SSIS, and SQL tasks
- Develop and maintain SSIS packages, SSRS reports, and data pipelines
- Lead Azure/AWS migration projects including planning, execution, and validation
- Define database standards, governance, and security policies
- Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and ensure long-term fixes
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams for seamless release cycles
- Provide 24x7 support for critical systems and mentor junior DBAs
- Implement and manage data warehousing, data engineering pipelines, and Azure Data Factory workflows
- Deep expertise in SQL Server Administration for large enterprise databases
- Strong experience designing HA/DR architectures (Always On, Clustering, HADR)
- Proven capabilities in query tuning, indexing strategies, and performance troubleshooting
- Strong hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS, and PowerShell automation
- Proficiency in Azure SQL, AWS RDS, and cloud migration methodologies
- Solid knowledge of data warehousing, data engineering, and Azure Data Factory
- Experience working with monitoring tools such as RedGate, SQL Diagnostic Manager, or SolarWinds DPA
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to architect scalable, secure, and resilient database infrastructures
- Experience as an Oracle DBA or Oracle certifications (OCA/OCP)
- Exposure to DevOps/CI-CD pipelines for database deployments
- Strong understanding of T-SQL development and ETL design
- Experience with cloud-native database services and hybrid architectures
- Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
- Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, or cloud database certifications preferred
