
Summary:
The Associate Legal Counsel will be responsible for drafting and administering contracts and ATP rules and policies, assisting with governance matters, and providing legal advice and support to all internal clients. This role requires a collaborative team player with exceptional drafting skills, strong legal judgment, and sound business acumen.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide general legal counsel and advice regarding legal and business matters to all ATP departments.
- Draft, negotiate, and administer a wide range of agreements, including employment, independent contractor, data privacy, sponsorship, licensing, media, event, and vendor agreements.
- Review and advise on existing agreements and other contract-related matters.
- Assist in drafting, interpreting, and administering ATP rules and governing documents.
- Assist and advise on trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property matters.
- Assist with communications to various ATP stakeholders, including players and tournaments.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and implementing processes and policies to uphold best practices and ensure compliance in evolving legal, compliance, and regulatory environments.
- Conduct legal research and analysis.
- Provide legal support and advice on strategic initiatives, marketing plans, and online and on-site promotions.
Skills & Background:
- 2 to 5 years of legal experience, especially in reviewing and drafting contracts.
- Experience in data privacy, intellectual property, employment, and/or compliance/regulatory areas would be beneficial, but not required. Recent law school graduates with strong credentials may be considered.
- Highly motivated individual comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Dedicated team player with excellent commercial judgment, extraordinary attention to detail, superior written and oral communication, and strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to recognize the varying interests of ATP members and external stakeholders and to build consensus among multiple internal and external constituents.
- Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and balance multiple tasks with varying deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including a professional, confident demeanor and an ability to communicate effectively and positively with a variety of contacts, including ATP members, outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates at all levels of the organization.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Member of a State Bar in good standing.
