Role Description
The Accounting Officer is an entry-level role that supports the Controller with a range of bookkeeping and accounting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in accounting while gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting.
This is a full-time position based in Yellowknife, NT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts payable coding and data entry in QuickBooks
- Manage and reconcile corporate card transactions
- Maintain and update financial data using Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Respond to general account inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Follow up with clients regarding outstanding and past-due invoices
- Support payroll processing activities
- Assist with tax filings and audit preparation
- Maintain organized financial records and ensure proper documentation for compliance
- Provide backup reception coverage as needed
- Perform other administrative and accounting duties as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in accounting or pursuit of an accounting designation is preferred
- Experience with accounts payable (AP) and/or accounts receivable (AR) is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
