We are currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Part-time SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide maternity cover for a period of 3 days per week - optional for 1 day working from home to cover administration requirements to ensure all actions are completed on time. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the provision of support for students with special educational needs and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special educational needs and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional learning requirements. They will be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As the SENCo, you will work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement personalised learning plans for students with special educational needs. You will be responsible for assessing students' needs, monitoring their progress, and adapting support strategies as necessary to ensure their success.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include:

  • Conducting assessments and identifying students with special educational needs
  • Developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teaching staff and parents
  • Providing guidance and support to teaching staff on differentiating instruction and accommodating students' needs
  • Coordinating with external agencies and professionals to provide additional support services
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to special educational needs provision
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices in special educational needs support
  • Communicating regularly with parents and caregivers to keep them informed of their child's progress and support needs

The successful candidate will have a teaching qualification and experience working with students with special educational needs. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Required Qualifications And Experience:

  • SENCo qualification
  • Teaching qualification ( PGCE, BEd, or equivalent)

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
