Head of Quality Assurance & Quality Control

LOCATION & ROSTER

• FIFO - Based in Cooma, NSW on the Snowy 2.0 project
• Office-based role (Mon-Fri or Mon-Thurs)
• Travel required to Lobs Hole Site & Goulburn Warehouse

THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Head of QA/QC to lead and maintain the Quality Management System across our client’s electrical and mechanical scope on Snowy Hydro 2.0, including turbines, generators, hydraulic steel structures and associated packages.

Reporting to the Deputy Project Director and global functional Head of Quality, this senior leadership role will define quality strategy, ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and contractual obligations, and drive right-first-time delivery across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, installation and commissioning.

You will lead and mentor a growing Quality Assurance / Quality Control team across Cooma, Goulburn and Lobs Hole Site, acting as the senior authority on all quality matters and the primary interface with the client, alliance partners and regulators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and lead the Project Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001, contract and company standards
  • Set project-wide quality strategy, KPIs, audit frameworks and reporting structures
  • Oversee QA/QC delivery across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, installation and commissioning
  • Lead FATs, SATs, inspections, commissioning quality and final handover documentation
  • Manage NCRs, CAPA processes and root cause analysis to drive right-first-time delivery
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier quality performance and ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Act as the primary quality interface with the client, alliance partners, auditors and regulators
  • Lead internal and external audits, compliance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to Site Quality Managers and QA/QC teams
  • Identify and mitigate quality risks while supporting strong project and commercial outcomes

ABOUT YOU

• 15+ years’ experience in Quality Management on major infrastructure, hydropower, energy, oil & gas or heavy industrial projects
  • Proven leadership of QA/QC teams on complex, multi-site construction projects
  • Expert knowledge of ISO 9001, inspection regimes and regulatory compliance
  • Strong background in welding standards, NDT/NDE and manufacturing/site inspection practices
  • Experience managing FAT/SAT, supplier audits, installation quality and commissioning documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex client relationships with confidence and professionalism
  • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience on major projects in Australia; Alliance or collaborative contracting experience highly regarded

Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme. Once complete, the project will deliver 2,000 MW of dispatchable renewable power and 350,000 MWh of large-scale storage, playing a vital role in Australia’s clean energy transition.
