Main Responsibilities
Communicating across broad audiences
- Create and execute communications plans to support campaigns, collective bargaining and recruitment.
- Collaborate with communications colleagues around the country.
- Develop content for members, including journals, online news and social media content.
- Maintain a website.
- Develop member-led communications materials, videos and photos to advance our campaigns.
- Create member-driven content.
- Provide support for, and generate, media through liaising with journalists and TWU spokespeople.
- Create content for other purposes, including political lobbying, public information and media background.
- Propose innovative approaches to reach members and prospective members.
- Enhance the TWU’s digital presence through website content and direct communications with members.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate communications.
- Put forward innovative ideas that leverage digital communication trends.
- Collaborate with national communications colleagues, other TWU officials, delegates and members, and incorporate feedback into content creation processes.
- Experience developing and working on communication strategies.
- Proven skills in writing for different audiences.
- Experience working with media.
- A good eye for design (experience with Canva preferred).
- Creativity.
- Attention to detail.
- An interest in human rights.
- A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive & enthusiastic in approach to work.
- A strong commitment to labour values.
- A positive work ethic.
- Qualifications and/or experience in communications, media, campaigns or a similar field.
