What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll provide regulatory leadership across South Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa, working largely independently to ensure Avon complies with all relevant product, advertising, and industry regulations. You’ll guide the business through regulatory requirements, anticipate legislative changes, and help shape strategic decisions with a clear regulatory lens. You’ll represent Avon with external bodies and authorities, manage complex regulatory challenges, and ensure new and existing products reach the market compliantly and on time, while minimizing business risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing regulatory guidance to commercial teams on product registration, claims, advertising, and compliance.
  • Monitoring and interpreting regulatory developments across Sub‑Saharan Africa and assessing business impact.
  • Supporting new market entries and business model changes by engaging with regulatory authorities and government bodies.
  • Ensuring full regulatory compliance for Avon and Justine product portfolios across all relevant markets.
  • Leading and contributing to matrix projects to implement regulatory changes efficiently.
  • Representing Avon in professional associations, government forums, and industry working groups.
  • Partnering with local, regional, and global teams to communicate regulatory risks, opportunities, and requirements.
  • Supporting the Head of Regulatory Affairs for Middle East and Africa on innovation, legislation, and market analysis.

  • Strong understanding of product regulations, claims, advertising, and technical compliance.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple markets and manage complex regulatory topics.
  • Proven experience engaging with regulatory authorities, associations, and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.
  • A proactive, strategic, and solutions‑focused mindset.
  • Comfort working in a matrix organization and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels.
