About Austin Classical School Austin Classical School (ACS) is a classical, Christian, collaborative school serving Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. We cultivate wise, virtuous, and humble students through an excellent classical education. Our collaborative model partners with families: Rhetoric School students (9th–12th grade) attend campus four days per week (Monday–Thursday) and complete assigned work independently or under parental guidance on Fridays.


Position Overview We are seeking a Rhetoric Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year. This role reports directly to the Head of Rhetoric and is responsible for instructing high school students in the biological and chemical sciences.


Teaching Responsibilities

  • Biology: 2 sections (9th Grade)
  • Chemistry: 2 sections (11th Grade)


Core Duties

  • Develop and execute lesson plans for both on-campus instruction and at-home independent work.
  • Engage students through age-appropriate classical instruction, moving them toward subject mastery.
  • Assess student progress formally and informally, maintaining accurate grade and conduct reports.
  • Communicate consistently and truthfully with students and parents.
  • Maintain an orderly classroom environment that upholds school-wide expectations.
  • Assist with additional faculty duties, such as lunch monitoring and chaperoning student events.


Schedule & Commitment

  • On-Campus Days: Monday through Thursday.
  • Hours: On-campus from 8:00am to 3:50pm
  • Additional Requirements: Monthly faculty meetings (one Friday per month, 9 AM – 1 PM), summer training (dates TBD), and attendance at specific annual events including the student retreat and parent open house.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred candidates will have relevant education in Biology or Chemistry.
  • Experience: Teaching experience preferred but not required; a humble and teachable attitude is most important.
  • Faith: Wholehearted commitment to serving Jesus Christ and joyful affirmation of the ACS Statement of Faith.
  • Pedagogy: Familiarity with classical pedagogies or a willingness to learn and teach within the classical Christian tradition.
  • Professionalism: Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective classroom management, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Liberal Arts Alignment: A passion for truth, goodness, and beauty within the scope of a liberal arts education.


Compensation Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
