The Senior Instrument and Automation Engineer will provide discipline leadership and specialist engineering support for instrumentation, control, and safety systems across operating facilities.
The role includes owning the technical basis for instrument and automation solutions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, company requirements, and international standards throughout the lifecycle of maintenance and modification activities.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary discipline point of contact towards projects, operations, and contractors
- Review designs, resolve technical queries, and approve engineering deliverables
- Provide engineering support to corrective and preventive maintenance
- Perform lifecycle management of instrumentation and SAS systems
- Follow-up of vendor and contractor activities
- Contribute to definition, planning, and execution of:
- Facility modifications
- Minor projects
- Study work
- Participate in:
- Design reviews
- Risk assessments
- FAT/SAT
- Commissioning
- Handover to operations
- Perform:
- Obsolescence management
- Technical input to contract scopes and estimates
- Deviation handling
- Support:
- Audits
- Verification activities
- Continuous improvement of engineering practices
Required experience / competence
Compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, standards and guidelines, such as but not limited to:
- Havtil Regulations
- NORSOK Standards I-001/2
- International Standards IEC 61508/11
- NOG 070 - "Application of IEC 61508/11 in the Norwegian Petroleum Industry"
- Strong technical background within relevant disciplines
- Automation technologies (ABB and Siemens)
- ICSS/SAS, Compressor Control, Drilling Control Systems and Subsea Control System
- Safety Instrumented Systems and Barrier Management
- Technical Network and Security of Automation Systems
- Field instrumentation and Field architecture
- Control Centre, Human Factors and Integrated Operations
