Assistant Warehouse General Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the warehouse facility operated by Ascenso Tires North America in Ravenna, Ohio. This position assists in overseeing key warehouse functions including receiving, shipping, inventory control, personnel coordination, safety compliance, and equipment utilization. The role works closely with the Warehouse General Manager to ensure operations run efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with company standards, while supporting coordination with Sales, Customer Service, and Administrative teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support daily warehouse operations including inbound receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, and outbound shipping activities.
• Assist in coordinating the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring proper handling and placement of inventory.
• Provide day-to-day direction to warehouse associates to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Promote and enforce OSHA compliance and maintain a clean, safe working environment; ensure adherence to company safety protocols.
• Assist in monitoring labor needs and scheduling to meet operational demands.
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to the Warehouse General Manager.
• Oversee proper use of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanners; report maintenance or repair needs.
• Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to support timely inbound and outbound shipments.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Administrative teams to support order fulfillment and service expectations.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new warehouse employees; provide ongoing coaching and support.
• Enforce company policies and procedures consistently across warehouse operations.
• Act as the point of contact in the absence of the Warehouse General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provides daily oversight and direction to warehouse personnel as assigned.
• Supports performance management, coaching, and feedback.
• Assists in recruitment, onboarding, and disciplinary processes in collaboration with the Warehouse General Manager and HR.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of warehouse operations experience, including some leadership or supervisory responsibility.
• Experience in distribution, logistics, or industrial environments preferred.
• Experience in tire, automotive, or heavy goods distribution is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of warehouse operations including shipping/receiving and inventory control.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP/WMS systems preferred.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead by example and work alongside team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and warehouse safety practices.
• Ability to take direction while also exercising independent judgment when needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate warehouse equipment.
• Standing, walking, and equipment operation for extended periods.
• Exposure to varying temperatures based on warehouse and seasonal conditions.
