Amsted Automotive, Beaver Dam Powder Metal, is seeking a Die Setter Trainee to learn the tasks required to set up and adjust powder metal hydraulic presses ranging in size of 200T – 750T. This is a 3 year die setter trainee program. The trainee will receive a wage increases as performance goals are met throughout the program. Applicants must be able to work any shift throughout the 3-year training period.
SHIFT: The "home" shift for this position will be 2nd at the end of the training period. During the 3 year program shift assignments will vary as detailed below.
Shift assignments will vary based on die setter availability, training requirements, and work demand.
- 1^st Shift (7:00 am – 3:00pm) Monday – Friday
- 2^nd Shift (3:00 pm- 11:00pm) Monday – Friday
- 3^rd Shift (11:00 pm- 7:00 am) Sunday – Thursday
- Set-up machines and adjust as required including calibrated gauging and chucking equipment.
- Obtain inspection approval upon set-up completion prior to production run.
- Use calibrated precision measuring instruments and blueprints.
- Make minor repairs as needed.
- Monitor SPC functions and assist operators as required.
- Monitor production runs for correct set-up operation and product.
- Know how to set-up and operate all equipment in the department including automated lines.
- Make density checks prior to production runs.
- Perform necessary preventative maintenance on machines as required.
- Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
- Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you don’t understand.
- Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
- Use various testing devices, chemicals and material moving equipment according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
- Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
- Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
- Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
- Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.

- Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally.

- Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, dirt, oil and grease, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.

- 1 year(s): Previous press operator and/or monitor experience
- High School or better
